Catching some Sine Waves & Beat Frequency Oscillations.

Doing backing tracks for 1st Album 2002.

For recording I still use 4 Track mostly. I am not against using computers for music but have always used tape

machines, it would take too long for me to learn how to use a computer enough to be able do the

things I already know how to do on a tape machine, also it`s dull looking at a screen

& pushing buttons & much more fun making your own sounds.

Since the Vibrasonic days I have included a CD Recorder that I do the final mixes onto,

this is the most advanced piece of technology that I use.

Sometimes I mix 4 tracks from the Tape machine onto a CD for a backing track, then put the CD mix

back onto a tape on the 4 track again & add more tracks, then mix back onto CD again. It seems to be

a better sound than bouncing tracks on the 4 track, less hiss & noise.

Sometimes I use 2 CD machines & play a Drum beat or backing track through the mixing desk & send signal out

to CD Recorder, then we play along through the desk & overdub while it is copying onto another CD,

we can keep over dubbing in this way without using a multi track machine & it also gives a different sound.

I don`t seem to work as well in studios, although they may have better recording equipment than I have at home,

I find it more difficult to make & capture the sounds, engineers usually want to record

how it says in a book & tell me "You can`t do it like that !" because they do not want to show their knowledge is limited,

they say it`s not possible but when you succeed in doing it they get annoyed. I get my own unique sounds at home

that I would never get in a studio, although if I met a sympathetic engineer with a good studio I would like to try

doing some things sometime, but from my past experiences of studios it was usually a waste of time & money to

pay someone who tells you " You can`t !", I prefer working with people who say "Let`s give it a try & see what happens ! " .
